I have booked a flight to Dubai from 24th of Dec to 02 of Jan of this year.
I know, this is around Christmas / New Years and probably an odd time to do a backpacking trip, but nonethless, I will try my luck and ask whether anybody is looking for a travel buddy during these days or would like to join me.
I am planning to rent a car and to drive from Dubai to Fujairah (a day of beach + diving), then to Muscat (Oman), next to Al-Ain and through Abu Dhabi back to Dubai.
The plan is to take a mix of hostels + nice good hotels and camping in the desert (no worries, it is allowed and pretty safe), to enjoy some lonely beaches, do some diving, see some sights, etc.

I originally planned this trip with a friend, and he bailed on me, so I have my ticket booked already... and I am really looking forward to this trip... I am hoping it will work out, but alone, it will not be nice to drive around with a car and do wild camping :(
Let me tell you a bit about myself: I am living in Stuttgart, Germany, and I am 23 years old. I have lots of travelling experience and have lived in some place on my own for a semester abroad and such. I can be spontaneous and the trip is still quite flexible, but to be frank, there is only so many routes you can do in UAE, so the route is pretty much fixed simply by the shape of the country :). I like to stay somewhat organized, and I usually try to get up not too late in the mornings to actually see and do some things. I like to mingle with locals, and I don't mind staying in cheap hostels, but I am also up for a nice hotel every now and then. New Year's Eve, I would like to spend in a nice hotel in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, and to do some partying, of course.
I am extroverted and I get along with people that are also extroverted and well-travelled, but I also like reading books and just being quite for a while.
Please don't hesitate to ask me anything. We can also meet prior to the trip to see whether we work out together.
